What Do Volunteers do?
We raise cubs sometimes from birth to about 6 months. Cheetah Experience is a centre which is a comfortable home to wild cats once they are healthy and can eat independently. We educate underprivileged children from our community about the cheetah and other endangered species through educational programs. The public are able to join our guided tours where they learn interesting facts about our resident animals. So you need to have good social skills and speak basic English.

The public are also given a chance to touch and have photographs taken with some of the wild animals. There is also a small curio shop and bar facility that needs to be manned by volunteers at all times. Visitors can also arrange in advance for game drives where they are able to see up to 26 different game species (mostly antelope).

Our animal enclosures are cleaned daily, maintenance and repairing thereof takes place on a regular basis. Lending a hand of cutting raw meat needs to be prepared for the feeding of the larger animals and cleaning food bowls – you'll never be bored!

Volunteers are expected to contribute to the blog daily. There is never a dull moment and always something with which you will be able to assist. Most of your work will involve a direct hands-on approach. You will gain skills and knowledge that are priceless. You will form bonds of understanding, love and trust between you and the animals while interacting with people from all walks of life.

After your time spent here, you will be a changed person for the better.

(We are open 6 days of the week, (closed to the public on Mondays). Volunteers will be allowed one day off per week.)
Your typical day will look something like this:
  • 07:00 – Breakfast, shower, clean room etc.
  • 08:30-9:00 – Meet, discuss events for the day.
  • 09:00 - 13:00 – Morning shift (tours, prepare food, work in curio shop, work on and clean enclosures, admin, nurse sick animals)
  • 13:00 -14:00 – Lunch
